ACTIVITIES AND COMING EVENTS
The following is a list of both completed and on-going projects

Material Receiving Re-engineering (Complete)

This project implemented improvements to the receiving and storage operations at the Northrop Grumman Ship Systems Ingalls Shipyard. These improvements allowed NGSS Ingalls to expedite their receiving, check-in and quality assurances processes. Annualized savings in labor and streamlined shipyard processes are expected to be substantial.

Shipbuilding Supply Chain Performance Assessment (Complete)

This project leveraged previous investments in supply chain improvements at LCMS member organizations and transferred the best practices from these implementations to the shipbuilding supply chain environment.

Mobility Solutions – Root Cause Corrective Action System (On-going)

This project will transfer a problem solving methodology developed in a non-shipbuilding environment to fill a gap in the existing LPD (Amphibious Transport Dock) program process improvement toolkit. The objective is to provide a process and information system to allow shop floor employees to identify and quickly assess process problems and properly communicate those problems to management.

Shipyard Production Planning (On-Going)

This project is to conduct a benchmarking exercise on past work of the US Navy Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the National Shipbuilding Research Program (NSRP) to provide the basis for a workshop devoted to identifying projects leading to ship production planning improvements and targets for implementation.

External Supplier Optimization/Lean Pathways (On-going)

This project is to engage Northrop Grumman Ship Systems (NGSS) in a lean-pathways program to eliminate waste and facilitate enterprise-wide performance improvements across the entities that make up their entire supply chain.
